2006 Camel Valley Bacchus
The aromatic, Loire-like Bacchus from Bob Lindo's Bodmin vineyard in Cornwall comes sealed with a screwcap, adding zip to this distinctive, dry English white.
Anthony Rose Independent:
2005 Camel Valley Cornwall Brut
Bob Lindo's vineyard is winning plaudits for its fizz, like this recent silver-medal- winning blend of seyval blanc and reichensteiner, which, with its creamy texture and rich flavour, shows that chardonnay and pinot noir don't have it all their own way.

The beautiful setting is bettered only by the quality of wine on offer: this vineyard was voted Times/Waitrose Drinks Producer of the Year 2002. Guided tours of.... The scenic Camel Trail runs through the grounds to Padstow's sandy beaches 10 miles away. The Eden Project is closer still.....

Camel Valley Bacchus, 2002
Where in the world? A boutique vineyard with a cult following, which sells out of stock before the wine is even bottled - California maybe? No, Cornwall! The 2002 Seyval Blanc (£8.45) really has sold out. No matter, because I prefer the stunning Bacchus with its nettle, asparagus and gooseberry nose, and smooth, almost creamy palate punctuated with lime leaf, crunchy pear and green bean moments. No wonder Cornwall is such a popular holiday destination with its sun, sea, sand and wine!
Matthew Jukes 'THE WINE LIST 2004 - THE TOP 250 WINES OF THE YEAR'
2000 Camel Valley 'Cornwall' Brut USA review: 'Clear pale gold, with a good mouse and persistent stream of pinpoint bubbles. Fresh appley fruit and delicate bread-dough aromas lead into a crisp green-apple flavour, creamy and fine, with tart, cleansing acidity in the finish.'
FOOD MATCH: Enjoyed as an aperitif, but it would be a good food match in any setting where quality sparkling wine is appropriate.
VALUE: A fine value, more than meets the competition at this price.
WHEN TO DRINK: Fine now and ready to drink, although its balance and structure suggests that it will keep well under cellar conditions.'
